Martha's Vineyard Museum

59 School Street, Edgartown, MA 02539

The Martha's Vineyard Museum is open year-round in historic Edgartown on the island of Martha's Vineyard. The campus is composed of c. 1730 period home, archival research library, carriage shed of vehicles and vessels, the original 1854 Fresnel lens from the Gay Head Lighthouse, and the Pease House Gallery building. There are four permanent exhibitions in the galleries and two rotating shows. Permanent exhibits include "Enchanted Isle: The Story of Martha's Vineyard," "Noepe: 10,000 Years on Martha's Vineyard," "Hands-On History" (an interactive gallery designed specifically for kids and families), and the "Spotlight Gallery," which hosts shows that turnover quickly and often have guest curators. In addition to exhibitions, the Museum puts on year-round programming for kids, families, and adults and plays an active role in the Island school system. In addition, the Museum serves as steward to the Edgartown, East Chop, and Gay Head Lighthouses that are all open seasonally and available for rental.
