NEMA Programs and Services

Publications — Print and Online 
  • NEMA News:  A quarterly journal devoted to vital issues in the museum profession that also provides up-to-date information on what’s happening in the New England museum community.
  • NEMA Jobs:  The best source for museum job postings in the region. This e-publication contains dozens of listings and is updated weekly.
  • Products & Services Directory:  A valuable online directory listing companies and consultants offering services and products to museums.
  • NEMA Salary & Benefits Survey:  A comprehensive study of New England museums published every three years.Individual Members are entitled to a discounted member's rate.
  • The Employer’s Handbook:  Guide to per-sonnel policies and practices for museums. Individual Members are entitled to a discounted member's rate.
Professional Development and Networking 
  • Member Discussion Lists:  Unmoderated Internet lists let you network and share information with colleagues. Open to members only. NEMA Collections; NEMA Interpretation and Public Programs; NEMA Administration and Facilities; and NEMA IMP (Independent Museum Professional) and Corporate Issues.   • Annual Conference:  A three-day meeting with more than 60 concurrent sessions, attended by more than 800 colleagues. This year’s conference will be held November 12-14, 2008, in Warwick, Rhode Island.
  • Spring Workshops:  One-day programs that offer high-quality, affordable training, are developed by our thirteen Professional Affinity Groups, and are open to all NEMA members.

NEMA responds to questions from members on all museum topics. If we do not have answers or materials to share, we will refer you to another resource.

Personal Referrals:  To NEMA Board Members, Professional Affinity Group Chairs, and other experts in the field.
Networking: NEMA has 13 Professional Affinity Groups. Few museum professionals only work in one specific area, so NEMA has created a network of experienced museum professionals to help you, your staff, and volunteers, with a wide variety of museum work. All members of NEMA have free access to the advice, support and programming offered by all the PAGs.
