NEMA’s New Graphic Identity

block logoNEMA is pleased to announce that we have a new look! Designer Joanna Bodenweber of Cambridge, Massachusetts and Brookfield, Vermont worked with NEMA board and staff to create a new graphic identity including the two new logos pictured here. The logos were unveiled at the NEMA Annual Meeting, held in Portland on Friday, November 9th.

The NEMA staff firmly believes that with the help of our board and the work of a talented designer, we have achieved all of our goals for the design: Our acronym, by which we are known, can be read unambiguously and yet our full name is an integral part of the logos; the six pointed star represents our six states working in unison; the lower case letters gives the logo a fresh, contemporary look, while the capital “M” emphasizes our NEMA’s New Graphic Identity association’s audience. The mix of sans serif and serif fonts and the use of traditional New England colors against a fresh white background signal our appreciation of tradition and our forward focus, while the fact that the star breaks the border of the reverse-printed background signals our commitment to “out of the box” thinking!

This will give us flexibility in applying the NEMA name to the many printed pieces and Web pages that we produce while allowing us to maintain a strong graphic identity.

Many NEMA members have incorporated the NEMA logo into their own printed materials and Web pages to demonstrate their affiliation and support for our regional association. All such applications are welcome. Please contact the NEMA office for guidelines and high resolution logos for print publications.

Over the next few months, this new identity will be incorporated into NEMA’s website and all printed materials.

We wish to extend our thanks to the Graphic Design Committee of the NEMA board and especially to Joanna Bodenweber for creating a beautiful “mark” that successfully conveys NEMA’s characteristics and strengths to our current and future audiences.
