Scholarships for the NEMA Annual Conference November 7-9, 2007, Portland, ME Application Postmark Deadline: September 21, 2007 The NEMA Professional Development Fund Established to make the annual conference financially accessible. It helps support travel, lodging and registration for Individual Members of NEMA and employees of NEMA Institutional Members at the NEMA Annual Conference. Stipends are awarded to conference attendees with special emphasis on new professionals or first-time attendees. Awards of up to $300 are available depending on the availability of funds in any given year. It is expected that recipients will register to attend the full conference and that recipients and/or their institution will provide some of the costs of attending the annual conference. The Laura B. Roberts Scholarship This $500 stipend is awarded to support travel, lodging and registration. Priority for this scholarship will be given to graduates of the Tufts Certificate, Bank Street Museum Leadership, and Cooperstown programs. University Products Curatorial Fellowship The Curators Professional Affinity Group, with support from University Products, provides a $200 stipend for Individual Members of NEMA and employees of NEMA Institutional Members to be used for a three-day conference registration. Any curator who has worked in the field five years or less, and works for an institution with an annual budget of $250,000 or less, is eligible for the award. Gaylord Bros., Small Museum Scholarship This $500 stipend is awarded to support travel, lodging and registration for Individual Members of NEMA and employees of NEMA Institutional Members. Staff members or volunteers from institutions with an annual budget of $250,000 or less are eligible. This scholarship has been provided with support from Gaylord Bros. The John Nicholas Brown Center Historic Sites Fellowship This $500 stipend is awarded to support travel, lodging and registration for a full conference registration. Staff members from history museums with an annual budget of $250,000 or less are eligible, with priority given to staff members at historic house museums or historic site museums. This scholarship has been provided with support from the Public Humanities Program at Brown University. Applications for all awards must be postmarked no later than September 21, 2007. To receive confirmation of your application, please send a stamped, self-addressed postcard that will be mailed back to you. In the event that your application is unsuccessful, you may still register at the early-bird rate at any time before conference. Copy of curriculum vitae or resume. Applicants for the Laura B. Roberts Scholarship should highlight relevant college qualifications. 5. A brief letter of support from your supervisor/advisor. The 2007 conference city is Portland, ME. The conference hotel is $120/night. The optional meals and events range from $5 - $45. Hotel, meals and travel arrangements are the responsibility of the recipient. As an award recipient, I agree to write an article, if asked, for submission to NEMA News or the NEMA website. I also agree that NEMA may use my name in announcing and promoting the award. If for any reason I can't attend the Conference, I will notify NEMA and return Professional Development Award monies so that an alternate can be selected.
